Overview

On their official website, Wordpress brands itself as the most popular website builder, and they are not wrong. Technically, Wordpress is a content management system that allows you to host and build websites. It is used for websites of blogs and online stores to company websites for some of the most popular companies in the world like BBC America and the Walt Disney Company.

Once you have selected your Wordpress hosting provider and selected your domain name, you are ready to install Wordpress. Usually, the hosting provider will have a streamlined way to do that.

Once Wordpress is installed, choose your Wordpress theme. The theme is the look and feel of the Wordpress site. Take advantage of the options the specific theme has to further customize the theme to fit your brand.

From there, you should be ready to add content like pages and blog posts. Then, you can further extend the functionality of your Wordpress site with Wordpress plugins. For example, you may wish to install a plugin for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Eventually, you will be comfortable enough with your site to do things to promote it like SEO, social media marketing, and email marketing.
